WELCOMING YOU ABOARD

We are a Non-Profit Organization Dedicated to Empowering People to Save Our Great Mayan Reef in the Caribbean Sea.

Coral reefs are home to over 25 percent of all marine life and are among the world's most fragile and endangered ecosystems. In the last few decades, mankind has destroyed over 35 million acres of coral reefs. Reefs of 93 countries have been damaged by human activity. If the present rate of destruction continues, 70% of the world's coral reefs will be killed within our lifetimes.

Our Mission:

Preserve The Reefs is a nonprofit conservation organization is also dedicated to creating offshore nurseries and restoration programs for threatened coral species. We  want to lead the development of new nursery and restoration techniques. Tens of thousands of corals will be grown and maintained in multiple offshore nurseries. After a year in the nursery, corals will be outplanted to a degraded reef. With the help of students, volunteers, scientists, dive operators, public aquariums, and community groups, thousands of corals grown in the nurseries will be outplanted on coral reefs.

Our Goals:

Education.
Enhance and promote awareness of coral reef health and survival, along with the environmental and social benefits of reef ecosystems.

Action:
Engage communities in nursery and restoration efforts by encouraging long-term involvement, as well as facilitating partnerships for the purpose of research, restoration, and understanding of coastal resources.

Results:
Grow and restore threatened coral species, and enhance reproductive output to stimulate a natural recovery.

Artificial Reefs

Artificial reefs have potentials as a positive management tool that can be used to allow the stressed natural site to recover, and to develop quality fishing grounds close to access points.
